The Central Montcalm Community Foundation was proud to be represented at the ribbon cutting ceremony and open house for the new Montcalm Area Community Dental Clinic as a collaborative partner on July 30, 2009.
The new state-of-the-art Dental Clinic, which is located within the Montcalm Area Career Center in Sidney, opened its doors on July 8 after six months of renovations. The new equipment was paid for through local financial support from the Stanley and Blanche Ash Foundation, the Greenville Area Foundation and the Central Montcalm Community Foundation while the Mid-Michigan District Health Department (MMDHD) secured financing for the renovation of the Sidney location. “This project would not have been possible without the support of our community foundations,” Kimberly Singh, Health Officer for the MMDHD told guests. “This foundation support leveraged significant federal matching funds. It is estimated that the expanded clinic will be able to serve 40% more clients than the former Stanton Dental Care Center. This is very exciting, especially during these difficult times,” she continued. The clinic serves Medicaid eligible children and adults residing in Montcalm County. The clinic will also be offering a limited dental plan for uninsured residents based on a sliding-fee scale determined by household income. Franz Mogdis, Central Montcalm Community Foundation Vice-President, attended the event. He summed it up by saying, “The financial investment we made was multiplied because we worked together to leverage these dollars. This partnership helped our community make bigger strides towards ensuring the health of our residents, and youth in particular, than any of us could have done independently.” |
